An article on an elderly couple - one with Alzheimers - that recently committed suicide. Hits close to home. Out of my four grandparents, one died of cirrhosis of the liver, two died of Alzheimers, and the last living one is in the early-mid stages of Alzheimers. In spite of Radcliffe's clear "independent living" policy I still end up dealing with a few individuals with Alzheimers on a daily basis.

I don't like to consider the possibility of my parents getting it themselves.

Good article, though. Almost had me in tears. Some awful comments though.

Writer's Block: Swine Times

Are you worried about catching the swine flu? Do you have a plan for avoiding contagion or dealing with quarantine?

I did some reading up on it yesterday and am now of the opinion that the whole thing has been blown WAY out of proportion in terms of overall danger to the public. I'm not particularly worried. While, yeah, it's bad to have foreign viruses (particularly ones orignating from animals) spread into the human population, this isn't exactly AIDs we're talking about here, it's a sore throat and cough. I have that with allergies as it is!
